A Isabella, una vita
September 16 – October 29, 2006
Villa Soragna, an exquisite example of nineteenth-century architecture surrounded by an immense garden, was the set for this
exhibition of Madoi’s art-works, an event included in the various steps of celebrations for the thirtieth anniversary of
his death (1976-2006) promoted by Provincia di Parma. The exhibition, set up on the three stores of this historical palace,
presented 132 art-works of Madoi, from very rare examples of paintings dated back to the 30s, when Madoi was no more than a
little boy, up to the ultimate unfinished drawing of February 1976, covering in this way the entire life of the artist. The
number of the art works of this exhibition, 132, is not a coincidence. This magic number with a very private meaning was imposed
by the family for this particular event, as well as the number 50 and the number 82 forming 132, are and always will be a
constant for any future event in the name of Madoi. The title A Isabella, una vita goes back to the words written by Madoi
on the painting bearing the same title dedicated to his wife Isabella.
