Tagliavini brought it back to life for a moment. August 8, 1968
Another portrait recently discovered is the one of Master Enrico Tagliavini, posing with his Guitar, painted by Walter Madoi at the end of ‘60s.
Tagliavini met Madoi in his Atelier of via Repubblica in Parma in the fall of 1968,during Madoi’s four years staying in his home town before going
back to Milan.
Maestro Tagliavini joined a friend in a soirée in Madoi’s Atelier, asking him the courtesy to bring his guitar. Madoi invited Maestro
Tagliavini to play while posing for a portrait.
Bach’s Ciaccona, one of the music in that evening repertoire, mostly impressed Madoi, who at the
end of which exploded in a roar saying “Let’s shake hands with the greatest guitar player of the world!”
One hour later the portrait was ready.
From then on, Maestro Tagliavini became one of the most frequent guests and close friend of Madoi, reaching him in Milan or wherever in the following
years. Thanks to FIWM Archives we have this image, a guitar bearing this note in Madoi’s handwriting This guitar was born dead…Tagliavini brought it
back to life fora moment, August 8, 1968.
