Affresco Corpus Domini 1966

Fresco, detail,1966, Church of Corpus Domini, Parma, Italy

A SUMMER FOR AN APSE

The great apse of the church Corpus Domini, in the city of Parma, was painted by Madoi in 1966.
Working furiously mainly during the night he concluded his assignment in no more than three months.
Hundreds of figures forming the base of the painting spiralling towards a sublime Last Supper, through waves of hope and redention. Like a modern Michelangelo, his work was initially censored,  criticized  and considered unsuitable for the normal standard of  Christian expression.
Finally a  visit by a High Emissary of the Vatican gave the imprimatur and His personal appreciation.

In 2014, after over a year of work, the restoration of the fresco of Madoi of 1966 in the apse of the Church of Corpus Domini, Parma has been admirably completed and a succession of events over the past few months, has highlighted the most salient moments of this delicate work.
