Scale model for the monument in Genova, 1975, painted plaster, 47 x 31 in
RECTO VERSO
Late in 1975, just before the end of his life, the artist was nurturing the project of a new monument. Sized twelve meters
per four and commissioned by the city of Genoa (North East of Italy), this work would have been a sublimation of the anguish as
ultimate expression of a mother embracing a dead son.
Discovered in 2007, this preparatory draft has been the subject of an official presentation Recto Verso at the Pinacoteca
Stuard (2006, Parma, Civic Museum) aiming to a new proposal for its realization after 30 years of its execution.
