SESTA - FRESCOES IN THE VILLAGE

Soon after the completion of the paintings on the inside walls of the Church, Madoi was so restless that he wanted to paint on whatever he could find.
Taken for granted that the owners of the houses in this little village would have been more than happy, he started to paint in fresco on all the surfaces possibly available.
The choice of the subjects was depending on his moods: portraits of friends coming to visit, celebrities, daily life of the village.
At the end of 1965 these paintings were 32. After his death in 1976, they seemed to die with him.
Now only 19 paintings are partially visible and 13 have been removed, destroyed or vanished. What you see here, thanks to old file records, is what has gone lost.
What you see on the reproduction of the village are the 19 paintings that will be recovered and restored.

In 2010, thanks to generous financial contribution of the Fondazione Cariparma and to the continuous dedication and perseverance of the Committee Sesta Madoi, under the patronage of other local institutions, such as the Province of Parma, the Town Council of Corniglio, Parco dei Cento Laghi, the Comunità Montana and, in more recent years, of FIWM.
The entire project is placed under the supervision of MIBAC, State Office for cultural heritage and executed by Alessandro Madoi Artistic Laboratory.
